After passing by the arches, you will come across the broken bride and a crane nearby. If you look down, you will find a black object holding onto the chain attached to the crane. Destroy the object to release the chain.

The chain is linked to a bucket that is set on fire. Use the ax to spin the rune on the crane. You should hit the right rune to spin the crane around. This will reveal a grapple which you can use to propel yourself to the other side.

From there, hit the right rune on the crane again to spin it around. Use the Blades of Chaos to grab hold of the flaming bucket and swing it at the black branch-like object. This will set the object on fire.

Freya will tell you that it is safe to cross the bridge now. To head back, hit the left rune on the crane to spin it and bring the grapple to you. Cross over to the other side and hit the right rune on the crane to spin the grapple over the broken bridge. You can now cross over to the other side.
