Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 was finally released on October 4, 2022. It offers exciting and team-based hero shooter gameplay. But unfortunately, things have not been going so well since its release as many players have been struggling to get on the game from day one. Many players experience multiple issues with the game such as login errors or long queue times, and few others. Lately, some players are also reporting that their merge accounts are not working in Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 features a cross-progression system so, if you have several copies of Overwatch across PS, Xbox, Switch, or PC, you can easily merge those accounts with the Battle.net account so you can use seamless cross-progression. But some reports say, merge accounts are not working and so they are unable to access their previously unlocked content. Thankfully, there are a few things you can try to fix merge accounts not working issues in Overwatch 2.
How to Fix Overwatch 2 Merge Accounts Not Working Issue
If the merge accounts are not working in Overwatch 2, don’t worry as many other gamers are also worried because of this issue. Before you start the following workarounds, it is important to know that you can only merge one account on a platform. That means, if you have more than two accounts on a single platform and are trying to merge them, make sure you are using the proper account. However, there are a few workarounds you can try to resolve this issue.
1. The merge accounts are not working in Overwatch 2 because you may have not linked your console account to your Battle.net account. So, first of all, make sure both of your accounts are linked, and then try again. However, if you have already linked them and still you are facing the issue, try the following workarounds to get the issue fixed. To link, go through the following steps:
– Login to Overwatch from your console account
– Follow some on-screen instructions and then scan a QR Code on your smartphone
– Enter the code shown on the console and connect or create your Blizzard Battle.net account
– Lastly, you will be asked to confirm the account in the next game login to merge your both accounts
2. Secondly, after linking, wait for some time and the issue should be fixed automatically after a while. According to Jodie, a community manager of Overwatch, this can take a bit of time because the database of players is currently overloaded.
3. One of the users suggested on Blizzard forums that you need to play enough games until the arcade/competitive mode doesn’t have any unlocked or overlay. Then restart your game and when in the loading process, it will ask for the account merging, then you can link up your accounts. There will be a long queue but it has worked for some players so give it a try.
4. If the above methods don’t work, your last resort is to contact their support team. For that, you need to open up a support ticket by visiting this link. And explain the issue in detail. Their support team will help you as soon as possible.
Just in case, nothing works, then worry not as developers have already acknowledged this issue and their team is working on the fix.
