Input lag was a significant issue during the beta of Modern Warfare 2, and it seems the problem has transferred to the final launch of the multiplayer. One of the main reasons behind the input lag could be a server glitch. But still, if you are getting the Modern Warfare 2 lag on PS5, there are some things you can do.
Besides the lag, there are other minor issues, such as the error HUENEME – CONCORD, DIVER, and Puget-Altus. Here are some user reports of MW2 lag.
How to Fix MW2 Lagging In-Game and Input Lag
There are limited options for fixing the Modern Warfare 2 lag, as the actual problem is likely with the game and the servers. The game is still in beta and quite far from release, so the game is far from perfect. The devs will hammer out issues such as these for the final launch. There are certain things you can do to improve the experience. Here are the fixes you can try.
We suggest the first fix to delete the MW2’s save file from the PS5 Settings. You can do this by going to:
- Settings > Storage > Games and Apps
- Choose Delete Content
- Select the Modern Warfare 2 Save and Select Delete.
Once you have done the above, set the game in Performance Mode. From Settings, go to Saved Date and Game/App Settings menu. You will find the Performance Mode there, Enable it.
If the issue is with your internet connection, that could cause the MW2 lag on PS4 and PS5. Ensure that you are playing the game via an Ethernet connection. Wi-Fi internet speed can fluctuate and cause lag in games.

Another fix that worked for us when Vanguard first came out was to turn off on-demand texture streaming. This feature is often linked with performance issues in COD games, including Warzone. Disable it and check if that fixes the problem.
These are all the fixes you can try to fix the Modern Warfare 2 lag on PS4 and PS5. We will update this post if we find new solutions or updates from the devs.
