How to Fix Far Cry 6 Crashing at Startup, Won’t Start, and Not Loading Issues

There is a range of issues that can prevent a game from starting, we have attempted to highlight all those issues. If the below solutions don’t help you, return to this post in a day as we will have more effective solutions for you.

Update the Graphics Card

Old or Outdated graphics card drivers can be the main reason for crashing issues at startup. Thus, updating your graphic card is very essential before you start playing the game on your computer. According to the manufacturer of your system’s driver, make sure to check their website to get the latest updated drivers. Nvidia has a recent update with a day-one patch for Far Cry 6, check GeForce Experience or the website to get the updated driver.

Play Far Cry on Lower Settings

In case, your system doesn’t meet the system recommendations to play this game, it is the main reason why your game is crashing. So, the best solution is to play the game at the lowest settings available. If you have a high-end system, you can also try to lower the settings and check the performance, and then you can increase it gradually.

Verify the Game via Epic Games Store

If any file is missing or got corrupted at the time of installation, it can lead to the game crashing. Today, almost all the latest launchers offer a quick and simple process to verify game files and download the corrupted files again. To do this: Launch the Epic Games store >> Library >> Far Cry 6 >> and click on the three dots beside the title and then select ‘Verify’.

Disable/Enable Full-Screen Mode

The full-screen mode in Far Cry 6 works in both ways. If you enable it, it can prevent crashing issues and on the other hand, if you enable the windowed mode, it can also cause shutter and can crash the game. So, if you’re playing the game on Windowed Borderless, then change it to Full Screen and vice versa.

However, if you can’t find the Far Cry 6 menu, then you won’t be able to do it from the game. So, force the Full-Screen mode by using the additional command. For this:

Open up the Epic Games Store >> Settings >> Manage Games >> Expand Far Cry 6 >> Check on the Additional Command Line Arguments >> Type –Windowed >> Return to Library >> Launch the game.

Disable DirectX Hooking Software and Overlay

When the game tries to render 3D and UI environments or if it tries to load content, Overlays can create some issues. DirectX Hook software can also be one of the reasons for the game to crash. So, make sure to disable both of these software before you start playing the game. Also, make sure to disable other Software like MSI Afterburner.
