It’s been a while but we finally have a new 4-star weapon set- this time from the new region of Sumeru. Regional sets usually have stats that generally benefit the characters or gameplay of the region. Inazuma weapons all had something to do with energy recharge one way or another. Similarly, in Sumeru, the new weapon set all have Elemental Mastery (EM) as their secondary stat.
The question is, how do these fare against the weapons we already have and do they perform better when the characters are built for the Dendro meta. Read on to find out what these weapons can do and on which characters they are good on.
Sumeru 4-Star Weapon Set Preview
The Sumeru 4-Star Gacha Weapons are all geared towards boosting EM from their secondary stat. Their abilities on the other hand revolve around buffing ER or ATK as they both directly or indirectly contribute to a DPS increase. While these weapons might not be the best-in-slot for any unit yet, they are certainly good alternatives to choose in case you don’t have their best options.
Xiphos’ Moonlight (Sword)
This sword in short gives your character bonus Energy Recharge based on your EM. Curiously, it also gives 30% of that bonus ER to your party members thus having a support function already built into its passive. It’s a support weapon through and through- at least for now. This effect is stackable and we’ll go into the implications of that later in this article.
The bonus ER might not seem lucrative at lower refinements or with low EM, but with higher EM points and at higher refinements, your character can get up to one artifact’s worth of ER from this weapon. As of now the characters that this weapon is good on, at least in the Dendro meta are the following:
- Dendro Traveler (Provided ER requirement is covered)
- Kuki Shinobu (Aggravate Build)
- Jean (Sunfire Build)
- Kazuha
- Kaeya (Melt Build)
The Iron Sting is the direct competition of this weapon as it gives the same amount of EM from its secondary stat. While the Xiphos gives bonus ER based on EM, Iron Sting increases your character’s elemental damage. Therefore while one is good for overall support, the other is much better at increasing personal damage.
Makhaira Aquamarine (Claymore)
This claymore also gives EM from its secondary stat and instead of buffing ER from its passive, it instead buffs ATK based on the total EM of the user. Just like the other weapons in this series, this claymore also shares 30% of its ATK buff with other party members. Naturally the higher your EM points, the more buffed your ATK is.
Despite how powerful this weapon sounds, it currently doesn’t have any optimal users as none of the claymore characters scale off of EM. That said there are still a few characters this weapon is good on and these are as follows:
- Sayu (EM Roller Build)
- Razor (Thundering Fury Build)
Both of these above builds are admittedly niche but players have been known to use them and in such cases the Makhaira can shine. You might think it might be good on Beidou too but if you really want an EM Beidou, Rainslahser is still your best option.
Wandering Evenstar (Catalyst)
This weapon has the same effect as the Claymore of this series- Makhaira Aquamarine. It gives bonus ATK based on the EM of its user. Unlike the above weapon, however, this will most likely be better used as many catalyst characters benefit from EM and could also use a bit of ER in their kit. Here are the characters this catalyst is good on:
- Sucrose
- Kokomi (Bloom Build)
- Barbara (Bloom Build)
- Shikanoin Heizou
- Yae Miko
It’s also likely that this will be one of Nahida’s best 4-star weapons so we’ll still have to wait and see if she’s included in this list.
The above weapons are still pretty new and players won’t have them at max refinement anytime soon. They need more testing and playing around too but for now, this is where they stand in the Dendro meta. Since Dendro too is a new element and we barely have a decent Dendro roster, chances are these weapons will increase in value once more Dendro characters drop.
