Upgrading your character is one of the essential components you need to learn in the game. Here we will see how to upgrade characters in Darkest Dungeon 2.

To upgrade your character, you need to collect Mastery Points. There are two ways to get them, either through Road battle or Main battle. Main battles will give you 50% drops for Mastery Points but will be quite challenging and tough to finish. Road battles are relatively easier, but will only give you a 12% drop rate. Whichever method you choose, you can use it to farm enough Mastery Points.

Once you have enough, head over to the nearest Inn. There are several inns scattered around the overworld, and you can get there quicker using the upgraded Stagecoach. After that, interact with the inn and select the Mastery Trainer tab. Select your preferred character, then click on the ability you wish to upgrade.

There are other ways you can upgrade your character, and that is by getting Candles of Hope and visiting the Shrine of Reflection.
