Make your way down the stairs to find an altar beside a diamond. You need to place something of equal or higher value on the diamond to unlock the door. The easiest way to unlock the door is to place 1,000 gold or something equal to 1,000 gold, like ingots, gems, and weapons. You should only place items that you won’t miss, as anything you place on the altar will disappear.

If you are not willing to part with your precious gold and items, then you can instead use the Silver Key you found earlier during your encounter with Viconia DeVir. The key can be found in the corner of the room, and you can use this to unlock the Threshold of Loss. If you don’t have the key or have come too far from that point, then you can also try your luck lockpicking it.
