By now you must have played in multiplayer battles in Backpack Battles, so you would have a clear idea that multiplayer is available. But regarding co-op, there is no co-op here. You cannot pick your battles, but rather leave your fate to the MMR Gods. Depending on your ranking and backpack, you will be matched with an opponent accordingly. There are two kinds of online play, Ranked and Unranked mode. Ranked mode is just as the name suggests, you will climb up the ranking based on your wins. Unranked mode is more casual so you can play at your pace.

There are a few rules to follow while playing in Ranked mode, such as getting a penalty for leaving a match. Backpack Battles depend on RNG, hence why a penalty is in place to fix battles and aim to win. Also, if you wish to change characters, you have to start the ranking afresh. The higher the ranking you go, the stronger the opponent you will be matched with. You can also try your luck in the new Survival Mode, which you can play in after achieving 10 wins.
