Should You Pull for Lyney or Yelan in Genshin Impact 4.0

With the release of Genshin Impact so close (on August 16th), players will have many new things to do. Things like exploring the new area of Fontaine, doing new archon quests, side quests and even some underwater exploration. With the new patch comes a new banner and with this patch, Genshin is introducing 3 new characters Lyney, Lynette and Freminet. Players will see Lyney who is a 5-Star will be available on the Fontaine launch as well as patch 4.0. His banner will be on the first phase alongside Yelan (5-Star Hydro) who is a very good support character. This guide will help you decide whether to pull for Yelan or go for the new 5-Star Pyro character Lyney in Genshin Impact 4.0.

Should You Pull for Lyney or Yelan?

In order to decide between Lyney and Yelan, players need to ask these questions:

Do they have Yelan already
If they do have Yelan, is it worth getting her constellations
Is Lyney a good unit to invest and spend your resources in
The 4-Star in the banner is good or not

NOTE: TLDR is that Yelan is more worth pulling for if players dont have her. But if players have her, Lyney can be a good option for players as well. The 4-Stars characters in the banner are also good as well.

To answer the first question, if players dont have Yelan, it is highly recommended to get her as she provides an off-field hydro application. This off-field hydro application is very useful as it makes the character time on-field less and provides great value to the main DPS like Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Alhaitham and many more. Yelan also provides a damage boost to the on-field character during the duration of her ultimate. Overall, Yelan is a very good unit to have (must pull for those who don’t have Xingque).

To answer the second question, it is not worth investing in Yelan’s Constellation as she is a very good unit at C0 but if players really like or want to increase her damage as well as utility (double skill) they can get her constellation. Not recommended*

To answer the third question can be tricky as he is not out yet but for the trailers and description in the Livestream for version 4.0. It is known that he is a main DPS and Pyro element user. With him being the main DPS and pyro element, he can be a very good unit with his vaporise reactions and even mono pyro teams. They are many team synergies in which Lyney can be in if players need a main DPS pyro character. In my opinion, if players have C0 Yelan already and want to try a new character, he is going to be worth it.

The last question is very important as 4-Star are the backbone of the genshin combat, there are many 4-Stars like Xinagling, Bennett, XIngque, etc who are very good (sometimes better than 5-Star in some ways). So seeing who is in the banner is very good. The first phase of the Version 4.0 will feature Bennett, Lynette and Barbara. Bennett is a must-pull character, Barabara even though not meta but can be useful in some teams and then the new 4-Star Lynette who is going to be free in Version 4.0 as abyss rewards. If players dont have Benett, this is a must-pull banner for them.
