During the quest Warmth and Comfort, you will be tasked with acquiring Obsidian Gemstones to raise a baby dragon. There is no hint or explanation how to get an Obsidian Gemstone in the game. Luckily, the search for this elusive gemstone is not too difficult. All you have to do is talk to Archivist Edress at the Obsidian Citadel to acquire it. You can find the Citadel at Waking Shores, coordinates 25.17, 56.28. Once you are here, look around to find Dracthyr Archivist and start a conversation. Eventually the topic of raising dragons will come up. Tell him about your plight of getting Obsidian Gemstones for the nest, and he will quickly hand one over. You need just one Obsidian Gemstone for the quest, so you are good to go from here.

Besides Obsidian Gemstone, you will also need Warmed Coal x5 and Crystalline Shell x1. Don’t leave the Citadel yet, as you can get Warmed Coal here. Check out the Citadel base, where Qalashi Necksnappers spawn. These coals are usually found between rocks. To obtain Crystalline Shell, talk to Terryn in Zaralek Cavern.
