Fontaine is a nation of justice and elegance in the continent of Teyvat. It is ruled by the Hydro Archon, Focalors, who seeks to judge all other gods in her courtroom and is known as the God of Justice. Fontaine is a hub of culture and arts, where people value beauty and grace. It is also a leader in technology and innovation, developing various inventions and devices.
However, Fontaine is also facing a crisis of energy and stability, as its waterline system is failing and its people are restless. Fontaine is the fifth nation to be explored by the Traveler in their quest to find their lost sibling and unravel the secrets of the world. It is the setting of Archon Quest Chapter IV: Masquerade of the Guilty. In this article, we’ll discuss in general all we know about and expect from Fontaine.
What Fontaine Has in Store in Genshin Impact 4.0
The Genshin Impact Version 3.7 trailer and the special program already gave us a couple of seconds of Fontaine- teasing its underwater exploration or diving mechanic. We already knew from previous leaks and reveals that Genshin Impact has been planning underwater exploration for a while and with Fontaine on the horizon- it’s been confirmed- both through leaks and the teaser. We’re soon to get a full-length teaser either in Version 3.7 or 3.8 but until then it’s all up to leaks and theory-crafting.
In the upcoming Version 3.7 of Genshin Impact called “Duel! The Summoner’s Summit!” we’re also meeting a playable Fontaine character called Charlotte who will be released later during Fontaine. Charlotte works as a reporter in Fontaine. She writes a column for The Steambird, a well-known magazine that Mona also contributes to. We’ve seen her bubbly curious personality during the trailer and we’re sure she has her own story and secrets as she accompanies us in the Grand Genius Invokation TCG festival.
As for the Hydro Archon, leaks say she will be released in Version 4.2 and despite there being rumours about the Hydro Archon being twins, the one who will be released as playable will be called Focalors which is the Archon’s Demon Name just like how Nahida’s Demon Name is Buer and so on.
According to leakers, Focalors will inflict Bleed upon your characters during her Elemental Burst which will slowly deplete your HP and this bypasses the shields just like the Corrosion status. However, this will also give your party a massive damage boost which will make the Bleed worth it. Her talents also allow her to create Hydro mimics on the battlefield but as for what function they serve- that’s still up to speculation.
Theorycrafters say that teams with Focalors will absolutely need powerful healers like Kokomi, Baizhu Barbara and so on. Among all the healers Kuki Shinobu is supposedly not favourable as she drains her own HP to heal her teammates which can be detrimental in Focalors’ team comps. Several other character models and character names have been leaked but they are still either incomplete or speculative for the most part.
Fontaine is expected to drop around the end of August 2023 so the hype is slowly building and it’s only a few months away. Since underwater exploration’s already been teased, players are already getting excited but there’s also the background fear of there being all the more items to collect and puzzles to solve just like in Sumeru. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
