Thoma is on the character banner of the first half of Version 2.8 and many are pulling his constellations in their pulls for Kazuha, Heizou or Klee. Thoma is a 4-star, polearm Pyro shielder, similar to Xinyan but much more viable, functional and easy to build. Depending on his constellations, one of his best weapons is a 3-star. In this article, we’re gonna list his best-in-slot weapons.
Best Polearms for Thoma in Genshin Impact
Thoma is a niche character and while his shields will never surpass the likes of Zhongli, he’s still a very viable unit in many team comps- not just for his refreshing shield but also for his element which allows for easy Pyro resonance. Thoma needs HP% and Energy Recharge above everything else so his favourite weapons reflect that. As usual, we’re going to classify his best weapons under specific categories based on rarity.
5-Star Weapons
Thoma’s 5-star options are generally considered overkill as these following weapons are better used on other more deserving candidates who can better use them.
Engulfing Lightning
This weapon is better used on Raiden but it synergises well with Thoma’s kit giving him tons of more damage and energy recharge along the way. It has a low base attack but it compensates as it gives the highest ER main stat among any other weapon. It also gives bonus ER after the character using it casts their elemental burst.
Skyward Spine
This weapon is outclassed in utility and function by many other 4-star weapons but it is on this list since, among the 5-stars, this is the only other viable 5-star option for Thoma due to its energy recharge main stat. Its passive is wasted on Thoma as he doesn’t need it.
4-Star Weapons
Thoma’s 4-star weapons are usually his most preferred options since they are easy to obtain and rather cheap to level up compared to the 5-stars.
The Catch
This free-to-play weapon is objectively the best for Thoma due to its energy recharge main stat and though it doesn’t make much use of its passive in terms of damage, it’s still a healthy boost to have. Since you won’t need more damage buffs from its passive, you also won’t need its refinements so don’t worry about grinding for fishes.
Favonius Lance
This weapon is also amazing for Thoma as it not only has an ER main stat but also allows him to passively generate energy based on his Crit rate. To optimally use this weapon you’ll need a high crit rate on your Thoma so while this does mean sacrificing on some of your more preferred stats like ER or HP%, it’s not impossible to still build him well. It’s certainly more difficult to build your Thoma with this weapon than the Catch.
3-Star: Black Tassel
The Black Tassel is one of the best-in-slot weapons for Thoma if you have his C4. At C4, Thoma solves some of his ER requirements so you can focus on building his HP% more than his ER. With more HP%, his shields get tankier and much much more reliable. At C4, a Level 90 Black Tassel gives him 3 artifacts’ worth of HP% which is huge. Though he won’t need its passive, the main stat alone makes it worthy for Thoma.
The Inazuma craftable polearm- the Kitain Cross Spear is also a viable option but it’s not his best-in-slot and makes him rather tricky and difficult to properly use. That said, if you don’t have any of the above weapons, then this one is a decent option.
