Dinkum is an Australian life and farming simulator game which is currently out on Steam early release. The indie game seems to be a cross between Minecraft and Don’t Starve, with its survival elements and crafting. The NPC interactions and collection point towards similar features in Animal Crossing as well. This guide will take you through the process of how to find food in Dinkum.
How to Find Food in Dinkum
It’s true that Dinkum doesn’t really have much of a tutorial like most survival games. Dinkum is more forgiving with the survival aspect, as the death of the characters seems to be a soft one, called Fainting. Players will be back in their room or bed, albeit losing some of the resources that they have gathered in the meantime.

When Fletcher sends you off on a mission to find food with little direction, you might feel a little lost wandering about what to do. There doesn’t seem to be any food on the starting island, and you can’t kill anything yet. You might need to explore a bit more by swimming to the next island.
Some players have their starting island as one of the bigger ones, so they should have no issue looking for some shorter trees. They bear a green-colored fruit which you can harvest without any tools. The trees will be a darker green and you can spot them easily from a distance. Once you harvest them, they will drop three fruit. You will need to pick them up.
Now, all you need to do is bring them back to Fletch. Eating food will restore some of your health and stamina. Roasting your food over a firepit increase its value. You can also sell roasted fruits to John to get some quick cash. Harvesting fruit will also level up your Foraging Skills.
