While on your journey, you would have a large collection of animal hide from killing wildlife, and what better way to use them than at the Tannery. But to get the Tannery, you will need to defeat a boss. You will have to head over to the Bandit Trapper Camp and defeat Keely, the Archer of Frost. To defeat her, you will need to first reach Gear Level 20 and beyond, since she is quite a formidable boss. Once you have the required gear score, you can head over to the Bandit camp and take Keely out.

Now that you have unlocked the Tannery, you will need to build it. The Tannery requires 160 Animal Hides and 8 Planks. You can craft planks if you have the sawmill and animal hide can be obtained by killing animals. When you have the necessary materials, head over to the Production tab in the Build menu, and then head over to Refinement and select the Tannery. You can now make leather using Animal Hide, and even further along you can use the Tannery to make empty canteen and pristine leather.
