Jae Mordant is a multi-skilled Operator, thanks to her Final Shot skill that allows her to effectively eliminate enemies who are weak. By picking the right Specializations, Jae is able to generate Advantage, apply status effects and shoot more than once during a single turn. This guide covers Jae’s recommended build, skills, equipment, utilities, and combat tactics.

For the best possible Final Shot-centric setup, it is important to use the Gunslinger and Scout options. Gunslinger provides cheap attacks to Jae and lets her shoot repeatedly, while Scout focuses on providing Advantage and spreading Spotted to across enemies.

This combination ensures the existence of a useful chain. The Spotter ensures that whenever Jae deals damage with the blaster, Spotted is applied. Meanwhile, Onslaught ensures that Jae’s Blaster Damage grows upon every attack during the turn.

Tactical Timing provides Jae with a 20% chance to get 1 Advantage every time she defeats an enemy.

Prioritize Final Shot

Upgrade Final Shot as soon as you can. It will automatically trigger once your ally’s attack brings an enemy within the threshold, thus allowing you to kill the enemy without spending any AP. It is suggested to set the health threshold to 10, which means it will trigger twice in one turn.

Therefore, your task is not to make Jae kill the enemies with herself, but let other Operatives weaken the enemies and use Jae to finish off the enemies that fall within the Final Shot range.

Focus Tree Priorities

After Final Shot, focus on:

Combat Recon VI: Scans an area and grants Advantage for each enemy caught inside it. Increasing its range makes it more useful for building the squad’s Advantage supply.

Quick Draw V: Gives Jae a fast pistol attack. If it kills an enemy, its AP is refunded, allowing her to continue attacking and potentially trigger Tactical Timing again.

Keen Eye: A useful additional investment because it improves her Critical Chance for ranged attacks.

Weapon and Mods

This build is best served by the Blaster Pistol because it only costs 1 AP to fire, enabling Jae to target multiple enemies in a single turn. Consequently, she can spread Spotted, accumulate Onslaught, and take out weak enemies with Quick Draw.

While a Blaster Rifle has a greater individual attack power, its higher AP cost means that it is not ideal for rapid-fire setup.

For weapon mods, look for features that place more pressure on enemies, like Defense Reduction, Burn, and Shock. Mods that improve Critical Hit Damage or Assist Damage, as well as stabilizers that increase Blaster Damage after attacking, are also useful.

Utilities

Here, Jae possesses ample freedom. An ability-based utility allows her to assume positions that help her carry out attacks, and make use of Final Shot, while Medpac provides her with more healing benefits. Avoid using utilities that cost 2 AP, as Jae maximizes AP expenditure by spending it on attacking rather than utilities.

How to Use Jae

Begin with engaging Jae in a position that allows her to hit multiple enemies. The next step should be to use Combat Recon to create Advantage against an enemy group. Quick Draw can then be employed to strike enemies that are already weakened. Kills can refund the AP and give Tactical Timing another chance to generate Advantage.

Remaining tactical points can be used to strike at different targets instead of exhausting everything on the same target, thus allowing Jae to keep both Spotted and Onslaught active while weapon mods apply their effects.

As other operators damage enemies, keep track of enemy targets that get within the execution range of Final Shot so that they can be finished by Jae without consuming AP. Reposition Jae whenever enemies shift their positions.

Alternative Builds

Jae is flexible if the Gunslinger/Scout combination does not suit your squad. You can choose to use the Assault class with Gunslinger if Hawks is already in play. Sharpshooter is another option, offering a more classic approach to long-range setup.

This can include using abilities such as Pick Them off, Zero In, and long-range guns to carry out Effective Overwatch while maximizing damage. You can also utilize Scoundrel for the assist-focused setup, which provides features like Never Play Fair, Easy Mark, and Identify Weakness to weaken a target for Final Shot.
