The Conqueror is a difficult boss to face in Mortal Shell 2, particularly when he reaches the second stage, where he uses powerful range-based abilities against the player. With the appropriate Shell, weapon, and patience, the battle becomes considerably easier. In this guide, we’ll cover the recommended build, useful attacks to look out for, and simple strategies to help you defeat Droeg without taking damage.
Droeg, the Conquerer Location

You will find Droeg at the Conquered Temple. After killing Urrig the Executioner in the same area, head towards the Ovate Chamber Beacon and activate it. Follow the path ahead, and you will finally reach Droeg’s boss arena.
Recommended Build
In this fight, use Eredrim since he is naturally immune to frost attacks and his skill tree will provide you with useful skills that will come in handy during this match. The Shoulder Check attack will be especially useful since it allows you to rack up posture damage, which will eventually allow you to stagger Droeg. Use it every time you get an opportunity. Then use the Axatana with lightning infusion. The build also includes:
- Duality Stone
- Shrike Stone
This setup gives you good damage while also giving you the defensive utility of the Shrike Stone when Droeg starts using his ranged attacks. The setup uses several stones to increase damage and stagger potential:
- Auspicious Stone
- Dead Eye Stone for additional critical damage
- Siege Breaker Stone for increased stagger damage
- Berserker Stone
- Grudge Stone
- Ember Seed Stone for the burning effect
The build uses an Axe +10 and Naylshotte +6. The Axe works particularly well when you have an opening to charge an attack and deal heavy damage.
How to Beat Droeg the Conqueror

When fighting the enemy at the beginning of the fight, it would be good to concentrate on parrying Droeg every time you get the chance to do so. You may also use your Naylshotte sidearm to create pressure, yet keep in mind that a gunshot does not allow you to restore your Resolve. In order to restore your Resolve and regain your Eredrim, you should strike Droeg.
At the first stage, Droeg will be somewhat easy to fight. Even though you may make a mistake and thus lose your shell, it will not be very difficult to regain it. At any rate, it would be important not to hurry. Every time Droeg launches an attack, strike him once or twice and retreat. It would be necessary to attack Droeg from the backside if you get a chance to do so.
As soon as Droeg recovers after his attack, run around him and strike his back. Strike him again and run away from him in order to regenerate. Use your gun to attack Droeg in between. Just remember that the gun will not restore your Resolve, so you still need to land regular attacks when you want to build it back up.
Droeg’s Second Phase

Droeg starts throwing out his flaming projectiles repeatedly, which can make it difficult to find a safe opening. Try to stay near him wherever possible. Some of his projectiles are easier to dodge when you are closer to him than when you are running around the arena.
Once he is continuously throwing his flaming projectiles at you, try to interrupt him with Grisha when you feel the time is right. This will give you a great opportunity to launch your attack. In case you have to dodge his projectiles, choose one particular direction and keep dashing there. Changing your direction all the time makes it easier for him to get a hold of you.
In case the fight takes some time, don’t be worried, as he has a high amount of health; this fight is bound to take some time. What is important here is to break him by gradually reducing his health instead of focusing on killing him instantly. Once his staggering meter is close to being broken, you should focus on the opportunity that you get to attack him. Strike him twice or thrice and then move back.
Droeg, the Conquerer Rewards
When you defeat Droeg, you will be rewarded with 38,753 Gloom and 1 Conqueror’s Reward. Be sure to take both of these after beating the boss since the latter may come in handy when you wish to advance your character. The “It Burnssssssssss” trophy will become unlocked after you defeat Droeg.
Conqueror’s Reward Overview
Conqueror’s Reward is an Ability that lets you spend 100 Resolve to perform a series of quick, piercing thrusts with your weapon. Conqueror’s Reward is compatible with the Black Needle weapon. It can deal heavy damage and becomes even stronger as you upgrade it.
- At Level 1, each thrust deals 200% damage.
- Upgrading it to Level 2 adds four more strikes to the attack, allowing you to deal even more damage.
- At Level 3, the Resolve cost is reduced from 100 to 75, making it easier to use during combat.
