The Digestion Adaptation is one of the important adaptations that should be unlocked in the early stages of Subnautica 2. You cannot digest anything unless you have the adaptation. This means that you won’t get any Food or Hydration points regardless of what kind of flora and fauna you collect. As soon as you unlock the adaptation, you’ll get all the benefits of the creatures and plants that live on the planet. In this guide, we will show you where to find the Digestion Adaptation and why it is so useful.

How to Unlock Digestion Adaptation

To unlock this adaptation, you have to advance far enough into the game to receive the Anita Quest from Noah. The Anita Quest highlights the Black Box location on your map, which makes it easy to find. If you choose not to make use of the highlighted location, you can travel about 30 degrees northeast from your Lifepod. Once you have reached the new location, you will find a huge alien plant near a platform. Swim up to the top of the plant and look for a pink, jelly-like object. Interact with it, and your character will immediately gain the Digestion Adaptation.

Digestion is the second Adaptation you can get in Subnautica 2. After getting it, your character can safely digest alien plant and animal species without losing any health points.

Until you acquire this Adaptation, your character cannot metabolise local organisms correctly. When digesting alien foods, whether raw or prepared, your character will refuse to digest them. In this case, you will not receive any bonuses in the form of Food and Hydration, and sometimes even your health might decrease. Once you get the Digestion Adaptation, you can freely digest prepared alien plant and animal species and get all their Food and Hydration bonuses.
