The Age of Hatred is a main story quest in Diablo IV that continues the events after Smothered Flame. In this quest, you travel through the dangerous lands of Skovos alongside Tyrael and Oracle Cyra as you need to stop Mephisto from reaching the Pools of Creation. Along the way, you will battle corrupted Amazons, repair a broken ballista to clear a blocked path, and survive several waves of enemies. The Age of Hatred Quest
The Age of Hatred is one of the main missions in Diablo IV. The mission starts in the region of Skovos at Akarat’s Bulwark. After the previous quest, in which you have to save Oracle Cyra from the corruptive Amazonians, the mission The Age of Hatred starts.
Once you manage to rescue Oracle Cyra using Captain Tharra, head out of Akarat’s Bulwark towards Atanos, heading south. You will come across the Odorous Mists as you advance further, which prevent you from moving forward. When you reach the marked location, your objective will update to finding a path to the Pools of Creation.
During your journey, you will come across groups of Amazons and Mordu followers who have formed their respective circles in a ritualistic form. Defeat these enemies as you progress. It can be noted that these groups are located along the path; thus, it becomes easier for you to realise that you are going in the right direction. Upon reaching the second quest marker, you will come across a huge barricade that is blocking the path below the bridge.
Repairing the Ballista
They mention that the ballista standing close to the barricade can break down the barricade, but right now, it does not work since it is broken. So, in order to repair it, you must collect replacement parts for it.
You need to go just south of the bridge, and there you will be able to find three ballistas, which are already broken. You need to destroy those ballistas and collect replacement parts from them. During this battle, you should pay attention, since those ballistas may shoot back and deal some damage.
When everything is collected, you need to get back to the broken ballista and repair it. After it, you should use the ballista to shoot at the barricade and destroy it. This will clear the road ahead for you and the villagers. After this, you need to go to the next quest mark and help Tyrael fight corrupted Amazons and then talk to him.
Reaching Pools of Creation
Tyrael informs you that Mephisto has already entered the Pools of Creation and is followed by his troops. Your next task is to look for ways of entering the location, but you will find a blockage. As there is currently no way through, Tyrael orders you to resist and defend.
There will be several waves of opponents who will try to kill you. You should keep fighting and defeating your foes until a special bar under your quest objective fills up.
After all enemies are killed, Tyrael clears the blockage, allowing you to continue moving towards the next quest point. There, you will be facing several Corrupt Amazon Commanders. Defeat them to complete the quest.
After the battle, your next objective is to enter the Temple of Union. Doing so ends The Age of Hatred and immediately begins the next main story quest, Delivering a Promise.
