Doorways to the Distant Past is one of the story missions in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred, where you will further explore the Horadric vaults that lie deep within the Temple of Wisdom in Skovos. After completing The Needle’s Path, this quest will become available. While exploring the place, you will be able to find out many things about the past, along with magical defences set up by Horadrim. Doorways to the Distant Past Quest
One of the main story quests in Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is the “Doorways to the Distant Past” mission. It starts in the Temple of Wisdom in the Skovos area. In “The Needle’s Path” mission, you will find the entrance to The First Vault. You can start the Doorways to the Distant Past mission right after you find the entrance to The First Vault.
Once you enter the vault, you need to continue walking along the sole available path and eventually find yourself facing the giant vault door. Upon your arrival at the door, both Tyrael and Lorath will start unlocking it, yet some Horadric Echoes will come to attack you.
Reaching the Chamber of the Gates
Defeat all of the enemies while they continue opening the door. Once the seal is broken, interact with the vault door to open it and step into the Horadric Vault to continue the quest.
Keep going down the spiral path till you get to the quest objective in the Chamber of the Gates. You will see the Slumbering Construct in front of the Inner Vault Door. Go ahead and interact with the door to start a battle against a few Horadric Constructs. Defeat all of the constructs that appear around you. Once the area is safe, speak with Tyrael to finish the quest.
