You have some chances of obtaining salt from these enemy vessels, but they are not high enough for you to depend on it. The drop rate is quite low, so you might go through several fights without getting any.
Another option to get salt is by purchasing it from the camp in Tortuga. If you complete the required quest, it will guide you straight to this location, so you won’t have to search for it. There is an NPC selling salt in that camp that you need to find after arriving. You’ll need to be at least level 2 to buy it. Each piece of salt costs just 2 silver, making this the best way to quickly stock up without relying on random drops from ships.
