In Marathon, the contract that requires you to deliver inert samples to DCON involves navigating the Dire Marsh map, searching for Contagion sample packs, and delivering them safely. While the task itself is straightforward, the samples are hidden inside specific trailers across the map. Knowing where to look can significantly speed up and simplify the process of completing this contract.
Look for Medical Trailers
To obtain inert samples, you will want to look through the medical trailers located throughout different parts of the Dire Marsh map; sometimes, they contain the sample packs of Contagion, which you need to complete the contract.
A good area to search is between the AI Uplink and the Complex. You will typically find two or more containers within close proximity of each other along these two points. Because they are close to one another, this spot allows you to check multiple trailers quickly and potentially find the samples faster.
If you travel towards Maintenance, you can look out for additional medical trailers; you’ll often find new ones there.
How to Deliver the Samples
The objective of the game is to find an inert sample. Once you find one, you have to take the sample to DCON to deposit it. Unlike most objectives in the game, this task does not use the usual terminals. Instead, you will interact with the panel on the wall and deposit the vial.
Delivering the vial to DCON will track your progress as well; therefore, it would be beneficial to stop there whenever you are nearby. This helps secure your progress in case something happens before you finish the contract.
Additional Note: If you have yet to obtain a sample, be sure to search the Quarantine area. Medical trailers frequently show up in the Quarantine Zone, typically in close proximity to DCON locations.
In order to complete this contract, you are required to transport three inert samples to DCON; when all three of these items are deposited, your objective will be complete.
