You will meet plenty of unique characters during your run in Hades 2. While you might have to fight most of them, you would also be required to talk to them to advance through the questline. The first time you meet Hypnos is at the Crossroads, where he is fast asleep on a hammock supported by two spirits. Whether you can wake him up to have a conversation, you unfortunately cannot. Even if you interact with him, you won’t get a fitting reply back. But you can offer gifts to Hypnos and he might mumble a reply. He never wakes up during the entire game and there does not seem to be anything that will help him wake up.
Hypnos has been asleep since the first installment of Hades, and is even shown asleep during Melinoe’s flashback in the second game. But he did offer tidbits of knowledge to Zagreus, Melinoe’s older brother, occasionally. He would even greet Zagreus upon his death and whenever Zagreus steps foot in the underworld. This is entirely absent in Hades 2, and he is in deep slumber throughout the game. He is one of the only Gods that don’t offer anything in return when they are given a gift.
