Fontaine is finally out in Genshin Impact 4.0 and we surprisingly have a new free 4-star character- Lynette. The reason why she’s free is because she’s currently the only unit in the game capable of dealing Ousia-aligned damage which is required in Fontaine to counter some enemies and solve some mechanics and puzzles.
Lynette’s Kit Explained in Genshin Impact 4.0
Lynette is an Anemo sub-DPS whose main source of damage is her Elemental Skill and Burst. Her NAs are as useless as they come like most support units. Even though she’s an Anemo sub-DPS, her damage also doesn’t depend on Swirl reactions and you’re better off comparing her to a 4-star Anemo main DPS like Heizou, instead of units like Sucrose or Sayu.
Elemental Skill
Her Elemental Skill when tapped does a thrust of powerful Anemo DMG which has surprisingly good scaling. When held, she can sprint in a shadowy state similar to Yelan for 2.5 seconds and mark one enemy on her path. She ends her sprint with a powerful Anemo thrust and deals extra damage to the marked enemy if they’re nearby. In her E skill, she also deals a coordinated Ousia-aligned Anemo thrust which has its separate cooldown apart from the Skill CD.
Her Anemo thrust also heals a certain amount of her Max HP while in the next 4s afterwards, she will lose a certain amount of HP per second based on her current HP%. This loss of HP also triggers off-field so there’s no escaping it.
Elemental Burst
Her Elemental Burst summons a magic hat which taunts nearby enemies for the entirety of its duration and deals Anemo DMG to them. This hat can also absorb nearby elements to deal Elemental DMG of the respective absorbed element- all at fixed intervals. It will only absorb one element during its duration and the absorption priority goes as: Cryo > Pyro > Hydro > Electro.
Passives
One of her passives buffs all party members with bonus ATK% based on the different elemental types in the party. With 1/2/3/4 elemental types, she buffs all party members with 8%/12%/16%/20% bonus ATK respectively. Her other passive simply buffs her Elemental Burst DMG by 15% after Elemental Conversion.
Her overworld passive talent allows her to locate Recovery Orbs on the minimap when underwater. The HP and Aquatic Stamina recovered from these Recovery Orbs are also boosted by 25%. It’s safe to say that she’ll be a very useful unit when it comes to Aquatic underwater exploration.
Suffice it to say that while she’s not a game-breaking 4-star like early 4-star units, she’s still a rather compulsory unit for any player. That said, she’s still a very good 4-star unit in terms of what she does and thus she is worth investing in unless you have enough Anemo units and are willing to wait for another patch for more Ousia-aligned characters for your Fontaine needs.
