You can start exploring other planets after completing the tutorial and also after completing The Wreck quest. Once done, you now have an option unlocked that lets you explore three other planets, namely Kijimi, Akiva, and Tatooine. The game first recommends visiting Kijimi, so head over there first. The reason why you should visit Kijimi first is because you can recruit your first member called Ark. With the new recruit, you can upgrade your Blaster to deal explosive damage. Also, in Kijimi, you can pick up Faction quests much quicker by joining the Ashiga Clan, which helps in gaining reputation early in the game
The second best option if you wish to skip Kijimi for now is to head over to Akiva. You can work on upgrading your weapons and meet experts, as well as collect resources at your leisure. If you are looking to enhance your character’s abilities first before you take on the big settlements, then making Akiva your first choice is the best. You can work on your build and also learn a bit more about exploration and scavenging here, something that is harder to learn on other planets.
