To start the Obelisk quest you have to talk to Commander Hackett on the walls of the Town Gates, located to the east of the Town Square. He’ll ask you to recover a stolen key from a goblin thief. Once you return the key, you’ll get two untuned swords and then you will need to head west, to the Hopeport Obelisk near the Town Square, to have them tuned. The Goblin Thief In Brighter Shores
After finishing the early story in Brighter Shores and gaining free access to Hopeport, you can head east to reach the Town Gates. If you climb the stairs on either side of the gate, you’ll reach the top and be able to speak with Commander Hackett. He’ll try to give you some new gear, but the key to the chest containing it gets stolen by a Goblin Thief.
Where To Find The Goblin Thief In Brighter Shores
To retrieve the key from Goblin thief, head to the South Walls, where you’ll find the level 10 thief. If you’ve been leveling up the Guard profession, this should be an easy fight. Goblin thief is actually right next to where the captain is. The key may not spawn for you immediately as someone else might have taken it already.
To get the key, walk towards the Goblin thief. Once you reach there, Goblin thief won’t automatically attack you. So you have to attack him to trigger the fight and then bring the key back. Once you defeat the Goblin Thief and show the key to Commander Hackett, you’ll get two “untuned” Uncommon Wall Guard’s Swords. The commander will then ask you to have them tuned at the Obelisk in Hopeport.
