God of War is returning with its new update God of War: Ragnarok which is a sequel to God of War (2018) and will continue Kratos and Atreus’s journey to find their roles in the upcoming prophesy of Ragnarok. Embark on this mythical adventure and face Nordic Gods and monsters in battle as the update releases soon on the 9th of November, 2022.
The new update has introduced some cool changes to the old equipment and weapon system and that is what we’ll briefly discuss in this article.
Weapon and Equipment Changes in God of War Ragnarok
Santa Monica Studio, the producers behind this game, have finally ditched the old limiting weapon and equipment rarity system where you could only upgrade your gear a few times before they were deemed incapable to keep up with higher levelled content as your character levelled up. Only the Legendary class items were strong enough at that point and in this new update, all equipment can be made Legendary.
In the new update, any equipment or weapon with a Power Level can be levelled up to 9- which is the highest rank. Even though Power Levels are capped at 9, players can now also finally “transmog” their weapons which has been a feature requested by fans since ages ago.
Once an equipment or weapon reaches Power Level 9, the game rewards your dedication by giving you the ability to change its appearance as per your whims and wishes- provided the appearance you seek is already available in your inventory.
This way you don’t have to invest in weapons just for their looks and you can just min/max your stats with the best weapons and have them appear like your desired look once you level them up to 9. You will be able to apply any look as long as it’s already in your inventory. This feature also applies to the main character- Kratos’ core Weapons and Armors so don’t hold back!
Both of the above options open up a whole new door of possibilities for new combinations and playstyles and players don’t have to hold back once Ragnarok drops in a few hours. Go brave the seas adventurers!
