Profit Factor is a sort of threshold that will determine how much you can spend at a vendor. During the start of the game, you will be given the Profit Factor of 10. As you keep progressing through the game, you can increase your profit factor to own more items. While visiting a vendor, you will notice that the items in their store have certain values. If the item you are trying to get has a value of 10 and you have a profit factor of 30, you can afford it. In fact, you can afford all items that are marked below the 30 range, but cannot purchase anything above 30.
To increase Profit Factor, you have to complete the following
- Making decisions during the main campaign
- Completing Story Missions
- Colony Projects
- Contracts
