Not every quest in Titan Quest 2 is presented with clear instructions. Most of the mini-quests are handed out to what seem like random quest items that pop up around the globe, and there is no clue beforehand where you are supposed to take them or how you are supposed to use them. But upon completion, these kinds of quests reward you with good experience, gold, and gear—well worth the time and effort invested into completing them.
One of these is The Trickster’s Shrine, which begins when you find and activate the Caduceus, a mythological Hermes’ staff. This quest has you solving a mythological puzzle and slaying a certain foe in a specific way.
Finding the Caduceus
The Caduceus can be found in a small bandit camp northeast of Pyrgos, in Southern Flooded Farmland. The camp itself is not nearly as well guarded, so you don’t need to prepare for a full battle. You can visit it either by just walking through the swamp or by coming at it from the north by following the main quest chain, The Search for the Sky God, and then just walking more east.
When you bring the Caduceus back to camp, you will start the second half of the quest.
To get the Trickster’s Shrine To use the Trickster’s Shrine, bring the Caduceus north-west of Pyrgos to the Shrieking Shrine. The shrine is elevated clearing and in the middle is a pedestal. You will activate the quest named The Trickster’s Shrine by putting the Caduceus on the pedestal.
Several feet away from the pedestal is a broken scroll in some pots. Despite being broken, the scroll provides a very crucial clue: the turtle was the animal which Hermes transformed into a lyre.
Solving the Puzzle: Luring the Turtle
Once you have a sense of what you’re doing, head south from the shrine until you find a turtle that’s walking about. Don’t attack it initially. Instead, get the turtle to follow you back to the shrine. This is the waiting component of the quest because the turtle moves slowly and won’t walk with you if you lead it. Stick with it and push it back up the path at a slow trot.
If you’ve already murdered the turtles in the area, just go ahead and go to the main menu and reload your save to respawn them.
When the turtle comes within range of the shrine, the turtle will begin to glow, which is when you should now kill it to complete the riddle. If you kill the turtle here, it will trigger the final portion of the quest.
Rewards for Finishing the Trickster’s Shrine
When killing the glowing turtle, a gold burst will be released from the center altar within the shrine. Although no reward of special armor or arms is given for this quest, the gold and XP gained are sufficient enough for an excellent distraction, particularly to those who have low-level characters and desire to level up fast or gain more about the world’s concealed lore.
