In Throne and Liberty, you can find special abilities called Traits on your gear. These abilities can make your character stronger. You might find some really cool gear with some really attractive traits, but you just don’t want to use them anymore as it is too pricey to upgrade or you just simply don’t like the way it fits your play. Worry not, these concerns will fade away when you learn how to save those traits.
In Throne and Liberty, you can find Traits in a place called the Enchanting screen. When you first start playing, you probably won’t use this much. But later, when you have better gear or enough money to buy specific gear or Traits from the Auction House, you can start using this system to make your character even stronger.
What are Traits
In Throne and Liberty, there are lots of Traits that do what you’d think they do. They make your character stronger in different ways. Some Traits can improve your accuracy, critical hit chance, reduce how long your skills take to recharge, increase how much damage your skills do, or even help you avoid attacks.
With new gear that you acquire in this free-to-play game, there are random abilities called Traits that come with them. If you have gear with Traits you don’t need, you can use special stones to remove them and sell them. However, if your gear has useless Traits, you can use other kinds of stones to replace those Traits with better ones. However, if you remove a Trait from your gear, you’ll lose the gear itself, so be careful.
How to unlock Traits
You can unlock special abilities called Traits on your gear in a few ways. To find the menu for doing this, press the period button (.) on your keyboard or press F11, click on Enchanting, and then go to the third tab called Trait.
To get a specific Trait like Magical Critical Hit on your gear, you need to find another piece of gear with the same name that already has that Trait. Then, you can transfer the Magical Critical Hit Trait from the other gear to the one you want.
You can also go to the auction house and search for the specific Trait you want (like Heavy Attack Chance) and the type of gear you need it for. Make sure the gear has the same name as the one you want to upgrade. Another way to get Traits is to use special items called Trait Unlockstones. These stones can be expensive, though. For example, to get Heavy Attack Chance, you might need 4 Trait Unlockstones and 5,000 Sollent.
How to upgrade Traits
To make a Trait stronger, you need to find another piece of gear with the same name and the same Trait. The better the quality of that gear, the easier it will be to upgrade your Trait and the more likely you are to succeed.
Epic gear: 100%
Rare items: 10%
Uncommon items: 1%
If you try to upgrade a Trait and fail, you’ll get a bonus that will help you succeed the next time. It’s common for people to use weaker gear to upgrade their Traits, even though it might seem risky. The bonuses you get can make it a little easier if you fail, so don’t worry too much.
