Resident Evil 4 has plenty of side quests to pick up, and during Chapter 2, Chapter 9, and Chapter 14 you would get an unusual request. As you progress through these chapters, you will find a note stuck to certain areas, asking you to dispose of all the rats in the area. Unfortunately for you, these critters are quick to sprint away, and there are only a few places you can check around to find them. Pest Control Rat Locations in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Chapter: Chapter 2
Location: Abandoned Factory
Rats to Find: 3
You can pick up this quest after leaving the Abandoned Factory. Take a look at the boilers beside the Merchant’s stall and you will spot a note for the Pest Control quest.
- Enter the factory, turn left and head right past the grill gate. You will spot a rat on the floor.
- Make a U-turn at the passage after the first rat and head right. Enter the first window to your right, then look to your left to find the second rat.
- A little further away from the second one, you will spot a third one in the same room.

Chapter: Chapter 9
Location: Grand Hall – Library
Rats to Find: 3
You can find the quest note after you enter the Grand Hall. Take the stairs up and look to your left to find the note on the wall.
- The first rat can be found as you enter the dining hall through the door beside the quest note.
- Head over to the armory to find the second rat. You can find it in the passage outside the main armory area.
- The last rat can be found in the beginning of Chapter 10. While heading to the Mausoleum in the very beginning of the chapter, you will find the third rat on the hallway.

Chapter: Chapter 14
Location: Waste Disposal
Rats to Find: 4
Find the Merchant’s stall to the east of the waste disposal area and check the crates beside the stall. You will find the quest note to pick up.
- Take the right entryway from the quest note, climb over the wooden bridge and go underneath the low lying plank. Enter the door on your right and go left. You will spot a rat running through the garbage.
- Walk over to the control bridge area and ask Ashley to set the bridge. Walk over it and you will find the second rat on the passage
- Head into the door on the left and enter the dark passage. Keep going till you reach a ramp. Walk over it and you can find rat number 3 and 4 in the same area. If you own the Biosensor Scope, you can look past the grill gate near the first rat location and shoot the last two rats instead of going around the area.
Tips on defeating rats
- Ranged combat is better and quicker to kill rats. Use a pistol or handgun, as they don’t require a lot of damage to take them out.
- Usually the rats will run around in a wide circle, so even if they run away, they will come back the same way. You will have to wait for them to reappear, then aim and fire.
- If you get too close to them, they will run away for some time. Keep your distance when you encounter them to take them out quickly.
