Pod racing is one of the quickest forms of racing available in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. It differs greatly from the other modes of transportation because of its increased speed, increased sensitivity of control, and distinctive events to participate in. Pod races can be entered into via Arcade Mode, campaign mode, and multiplayer. This guide explains all the pod racing modes and what you can expect from each one.

Pod Racing in Star Wars Galactic Racer

Pod racing is the second-fastest and most demanding type of racing in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The main difference between pod racers and other types of races such as land speeders, skim speeders, and speeder bikes is that pod racers are much faster and maneuver very differently.

Pod racers are bigger, faster, and more fragile compared to the other vehicles. Also, being much faster makes them more difficult to control, which means that you can easily crash while driving. Even getting stuck in a small crack can destroy your pod completely.

The size of the pod racers makes certain areas on tracks more complicated. For example, certain tunnels and narrow places on the track can be hard to manoeuvre because pod racers are way bigger compared to the other vehicles.

There are also certain tracks that are designed especially for pod racers due to their size. The speed of the pod racers is also much higher compared to other vehicles. While most other types of races go from 300 to 400 km/h, pod racers can move up to 1000 km/h.

Arcade Mode

You can participate in pod racing as soon as you start the game in Arcade Mode. In this mode, you will be able to take part in various events and races without completing the campaign first.

Events are designed on specific tracks and use specific cars and function almost similarly to time trials. In addition to competing with yourself for improving times, you can race with your friends and other players. There are many other custom events designed by the developers.

Pod Racer Characters

There are six pod racers available in the game:

  • Dudbolt
  • Gasgano
  • Teemto
  • Sebulba
  • Odandrrell
  • Ben Quadinaros

Every character rides their trademark pod racer from The Phantom Menace. But because the game occurs in the era of Return of the Jedi, the characters have grown up and gotten new uniforms. Also, each pod racer is equipped with its own attributes and characteristics that make it unique to other racers in the game.

Pod Racing Events and Unlocks

The King of the Racers race becomes available once you begin the game in the Arcade Mode. You get to race as Sebulba on Mozba Speedway. It should be noted that Mozba Speedway differs from the famous Boonta Eve Classic track that appeared in The Phantom Menace. This track is shorter and different from the one.

Finish the race to unlock the next one. In later races, you will have the opportunity to visit other planets like Lantana – the newly developed planet and Ando Prime. There are six pod racing events that can be unlocked through Arcade Mode.

In each of them, you get to race as various pod racers, thus getting to know all the characters from the roster. Still, there are more pod racing events in the game than the six provided by Arcade Mode. Additional events are unlocked by progressing through the campaign.

Pod Racing in the Campaign

The Pod Race is also included in the primary storyline. Different races become accessible as you go through the plotline. These elements are linked to the campaign and feature racing flashbacks of a certain character. Furthermore, they offer some additional information about the storyline and help you advance in the game.

Pod Racer Customisation

Another problem is the fact that there is very little customisable content about the appearance of the characters or their pod racer. Nevertheless, the multiplayer game gives a lot of chances to customize how you are going to be performing in this pod racer game. There are two modes of multiplayer pod racing. The first mode is Quick Pod Race, where you immediately start competing against seven other players and have eight racers in total.

The second mode is Pod Racing Tour. It is more like a mini championship where you will be competing against up to seven players. In this mode, you gain points and credits for upgrading your pod racer during the game. Thus, you have the possibility to upgrade some features, for example, handling and abilities.

This means that you can create your own pod racer according to your style of playing. You and another player may have exactly the same character, but completely different setups because of different choices of upgrades. All of the upgrades are focused on performance itself and not the appearance.
