A major Google Pixel 6 update rolled yesterday with a range of bug fixes particularly to the fingerprint sensor, camera, Bluetooth, display, and audio. But, the latest update is causing problems for some users. When you reboot the phone for the update you get an error message that says the data was corrupted and a factory reset is required. A factory reset can fix a lot of issues with the phone, but it also wipes a lot of things from the phone. Fortunately, there is a fix for the data corruption issue and you don’t have to wipe anything from the phone.
Here is what you need to do:
- Turn off the Pixel 6 right after it booting and before the crash happens
- Hold the Power Button. When you see the animations, volume down to get into the safe mode
- Connect to the internet by turning Wi-Fi on and perform the update of apps and OS
- Reboot the phone and turn everything on.
This is not the first time such an issue has emerged after an update. After each update, there is a select user base of the device that faces the issue where the Pixel 6 suggests to factory reset the device. Needless to say, the community is not happy about the issue.
While the latest update has brought about some bug fixes to the Bluetooth of Pixel 6, users are reporting that the Bluetooth connection is causing the Pixel 6 crash while updating. So, a precautionary step you can take while updating is to power up the device in normal mode without the Bluetooth connection and then perform the update of apps.
