Blazamut Ryu Ultra is among the hardest bosses in Palworld 1.0 and demands precise planning and proper troops in order to be defeated within the time limit. In the guide, you will find out about the best party setups, raid armies, equipment, and tips to take down the Ultra raid during both phases.

How to Start the Blazamut Ryu Raid

Blazamut Ryu Ultra is the tougher version of the raid boss in Palworld 1.0. With a health of 1,025,360 and the same 10-minute time limit, you need proper setup to achieve success against it. The tactic involves using the Water raid army in the first phase and transitioning to the Ground army in the second phase after Blazamut Ryu has changed forms.

You can summon Blazamut Ryu by preparing the Blazamut Ryu slab by using four Blazamut Ryu Slab Fragments at a Summoning Altar. After beating the normal raid, you will be able to get Blazamut Ryu (Ultra) Slabs which allow you to challenge the Ultra version without collecting slab fragments again.

Best Party Setup

The aim of building this party is to maximize the damage dealt by the player while at the same time enhancing the power of the elemental raid armies.

During the initial phase, you need to make use of Ashrobe with Swift, Legend, Dimensional Leap, and Idiosyncratic. This should be complemented by using Penking Lux, which increases super effective Water damage.

It would be good to also add Solenne into the party, as this will provide a boost of 80% player Attack Power. The next two additional warriors to make use of would be Vanwyrm Cryst (50% bonus headshot damage) and Cryolinx Terra (60% bonus headshot damage).

During the second phase of Blazamut Ryu, it is essential to introduce Gildane to support the Ground-based raid army. The current setup includes Turtacle Terra, which in the description states that the player is provided with a bonus of 100% damage.

Phase 1: Water Raid Army

Blazamut Ryu begins the battle in its Fire form, making Water attacks the preferred source of damage. Use a raid army made up of Neptilius with the following passives:

  • Lucky
  • Legend
  • Immortality
  • Serenity

Equip each Neptilius with:

  • Sonic Laser
  • Geyser Gush
  • Hydro Slicer

Sonic Laser is one of the strongest Water attacks available, while Geyser Gush performs particularly well against large targets. Hydro Slicer serves as a reliable damage skill throughout the phase.

The combination of Legend and Immortality also helps the raid army survive Blazamut Ryu’s frequent area-of-effect attacks, including abilities like Ignis Rage and Magna Crusher.

Phase 2: Ground Raid Army

When Blazamut Ryu depletes its first health bar, it regains some of its HP and changes into its Electric form. At this point, upgrading to a Ground focused raid army to do more damage. The following Sekhmet are useful:

  • Earth Emperor
  • Serenity
  • Legend
  • Immortality

This strategy depends on elemental damage rather than neutral attacks, and therefore mono-element builds will be quite powerful with the help of the Attack bonus that the Research Station provides.

Legend can be replaced with better offensive passive; however, it helps survive against Thunderstorm, Lightning Strike, and other area attacks used in the second phase.

Best Player Equipment

Equip Heat Resistant Ancient Armor to reduce the fire damage dealt during the encounter. Use the following accessories:

  • Attack Pendant
  • Warsect’s Belt
  • Dogen Emblem
  • Sylveus Emblem

Before starting the raid, make sure your weapon is fully reloaded, activate your Attack buffs, and summon the Drone Launcher.

Use the Electrify Combo

The most effective damage window appears when you combine the status effect Water with Electric.

The process should start with Neptilius applying Soaked with Water attack. Afterward, Ashrobe can apply his Lightning Streak ability to use the Electrify status instead of Soaked. This gives about a 10-second window, during which Water attacks deal significantly more damage.

If Blazamut Ryu doesn’t interfere with the Magna Crusher combo, it will usually allow the players to reach the first stagger much faster.

Why Immortality Is So Effective

Immortality offers more than mere lifesteal; the ability for health regeneration ensures that your raid buddies recover after being hit hard in battle.

Even if several Neptilius drop low on health before the first stagger, they will still be able to regenerate a lot of health during the stun phase and fight without being replaced.

Combat Tips

Make sure your mount is set to defensive mode right after summoning your raid army. This way, you can dismount rapidly without disrupting your movement.

Initiate the fight with as many head shots as you can before activating the Electrify combo. When Blazamut Ryu uses the Beam Slicer, dodge to the right as soon as the purple glow appears.

Strafe to the side to avoid the Dragon Meteor attack. Whenever possible, stay opposite from the raid army to reduce the chances of your Pals standing directly in front of the boss during attacks like Bron Impact.

Shaolong vs. Neptilius

While Shaolong is a seemingly viable alternative due to being a Water and Dragon type with Water-exclusive attacks, its usage in the raid has proven to be quite challenging.

Its Water Tornado move generates heavy visual confusion and often knocks Blazamut Ryu around the arena, complicating the task of identifying and reacting to incoming attacks. As a result, the battalion led by Neptilius is a more viable option.

Food Buffs

When it comes to the Neptilius army, Attack Food should be used from the outset to maximize Water damage.

For the Sekhmet, Defense Food comes into play in the second phase, as it improves survival chances against Blazamut Ryu’s area attacks, which can be difficult. Attack Food may be somewhat effective, but the defensive option keeps troops alive during the battle.

Raid Rewards

Blazamut Ryu is not a capturable target during the raid; instead, it provides raid loot when defeated, such as a Large Dragon Egg, Ancient Civilization Cores, Training Crystals, Applied Mining Handbook I, and Horns of Supremacy. You will also get Blazamut Ryu (Ultra) Slabs, which will make the next Ultra attempts easier.
