Wildlife Sanctuaries in Palworld 1.0 have undergone significant upgrades. Although the islands are still known to contain rare Pals and loot, there’s a new security system that makes things much harder when traversing these sanctuaries. Each sanctuary is equipped with patrol drones, and catching the attention of the drones can end your adventures before they even begin. Here’s all you need to know before embarking on your journey to the newly reworked sanctuaries.

How the New Wildlife Sanctuaries Work

You will immediately notice the new security system. However, all the sanctuaries are surrounded with an energy barrier that doesn’t prevent you from passing through it freely.

The threat here is from patrol drones that are roaming around the sanctuaries. Each of the drones broadcasts a red detection beam, and the moment you step in, it turns active. If the drones see you, it becomes much harder to escape because they pursue you actively and can deal serious damage in a short time. In the higher level sanctuaries there are several drones patrolling around so that they will easily spot you while exploring or battling with the nearby Pals.

Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1

The Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 is amongst the top sanctuaries to check out due to its interesting combination of helpful Pals and easy-to-reach rewards.

One of the main features of the sanctuary is Grizzbolt, which can be encountered as a certain boss fight. Interestingly, Grizzbolt can be caught while it sleeps using the Exotic Sphere.

There are also other useful Pals found here, such as Elgrove that provides its user with Level 3 Planting, Level 2 Gathering, Level 2 Mining, Level 3 Lumbering, and Level 3 Transporting, which makes it a very productive helper at your base. Other Pals of interest include:

  • Lunaris, featuring Level 4 Handiwork. While it’s in your party, thrown Pal Spheres home in on targets.
  • Vaelet, offering strong Planting, Handiwork, and Gathering work suitability.
  • Grizzbolt, with Level 5 Electricity and Level 4 Handiwork.
  • Eikthyrdeer Terra grants +1 Lumbering to other Pals.
  • Elphidran, which increases drops from Dark Pals by 40%.
  • Penking, which comes with Level 3 Mining.

Wildlife Sanctuary Chests Loot

The sanctuary chests now use the same Forest Chest Tier 2 loot pool. Possible rewards include:

  • Sapphires
  • Bellanoir Slab Fragments
  • Metal Armor Schematics
  • Makeshift Shotgun Schematics
  • Musket Schematics
  • Sword Schematics
  • Handgun Schematics
  • SMG Schematics
  • Handbooks (rare)

Pendants no longer drop from sanctuary chests. Instead, they are now unlocked through crafting recipes, while Challenge Towers reward Pal Rings that provide various buffs.

Because of these changes, you can no longer visit the sanctuaries early to obtain higher-tier dungeon rewards.

Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2

The second sanctuary is less restrictive as it has an open layout, there are also more security drones patrolling in this area. The current Pal roster here consists of:

  • Kitsun
  • Pyrin Noct
  • Astegon (Level 55)
  • A host of Level 38-40 Pals

The island is also home to numerous fishing spots and a unique material called Ancient Lava which is available for collection. Defeating the patrol drones does not seem to yield any loot.

Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3

The most heavily guarded of all sanctuaries is Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3. It is under the surveillance of multiple patrol drones that do not miss out on what is happening on the island. Due to its open terrain, it is easy to be noticed during the wild Pal battle here. Memorable encounters include:

  • Mammorest Noct
  • Fenglope
  • Frostallion Noct
  • Shadowbeak (Level 51)

As most of the encounters happen at Level 50 or higher, it is strongly advised to visit this sanctuary only after being well equipped.

Which Wildlife Sanctuary Should You Visit First?

Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 provides the best overall value. Besides its promise of a Grizzbolt encounter, it has many excellent worker Pals and chests that provide rewards according to your level.

While the second and the third sanctuaries have their own unique Pal encounters, boss fights like Astegon and Frostallion Noct, fishing spots, and resources like Ancient Lava, they are not as rewarding as the first sanctuary.
