Mountain Fortress Chest Key Location – Gothic 1 Remake

The Mountain Fortress chest holds a lot of loot for you, but first you have to find its key in order to be able to open it. To get the key, you will have to explore the fortresses and fight some Harpies that are blocking your way. You will then have to solve the lockpicking challenge of the chest in which the key is found. This guide will tell you the Mountain Fortress chest key location in Gothic 1 Remake. 

Mountain Fortress Chest Key Location

To unlock the chest, begin in the room which you entered after falling out of the attic. Then, go through the door on the opposite side of the room and climb up to the very top of the stairs, where you will find yourself facing a damaged wall.

You will receive an invitation to use it when getting near to the end of the stairs. Then, do so and keep moving left until reaching a new entrance point. Go inside, turn right and climb up further on the stairs leading into a room with two Harpies inside. After dealing with the Harpies, you will have to follow an outdoor staircase up the building.

At its very top, you will find more Harpies guarding another chest. Pick the lock on this chest to obtain the key needed for the locked chest. To open the chest, adjust the plates in the following order:

1. Shift the 1st plate two steps to the left.
2. Shift the 4th plate two steps to the right.
3. Shift the 5th plate two steps to the left.
4. Shift the 6th plate three steps to the left.
5. Shift the 2nd plate four steps to the right.
6. Shift the 3rd plate one step to the left.
7. Shift the 6th plate five steps to the left.
8. Shift the 4th plate three steps to the right.
9. Shift the 5th plate three steps to the left.
10. Shift the 3rd plate three steps to the left.
11. Shift the 4th plate six steps to the right.
12. Shift the 6th plate six steps to the left.
13. Shift the 5th plate six steps to the left.
14. Shift the 6th plate six more steps to the left.
15. Shift the 2nd plate three steps to the right.
16. Shift the 4th plate three steps to the right.

If you’re playing via the Xbox, press the Left D-Pad or the Right D-Pad in order to shift the respective plates in the desired directions. Once the plates are placed in their appropriate places, the chest will automatically open up for you. It should be noted that the above lockpick method has been checked using the basic Lockpicking skill. If you have learned Lockpicking already, you may not be able to follow this path anymore.
