There are two phases to the Sundered Monarch fight, and we will detail how to beat him at each of the stages.
Stage 1
The Sundered Monarch will remain mostly still in the corner when you first encounter him. Use this time to put in some strong hits to his back. Be careful of his arm swipe from behind and his knockback AoE. You can quickly roll away and return to stab him some more before the next cutscene appears.
Stage 2
- This is when he starts moving around. He will use the head of the decapitated statue to slam it on the ground.
- The Sundered Monarch can also use his entire body and slam himself around your area.
- This boss does not stay stationary for long, as he will leap away to get some distance between you and him
- If you see him leap into the air to land on you, dodge then roll back in to attack his body
- He takes a while to get up, so use this time to land some hits.
- Stay close to his body during the first half, as he won’t deal much damage besides slamming the rock or his body on you.
- He will also try to swipe with his arm if you are in front of him, so always stick to his back
- Once his health is down less than half, he will start mixing his attacks with fire
- He will dash when you get close to him and leave behind a trail of falling and ignited knives
- The Sundered Monarch will also slam the statue head with much more force than earlier
- He will sometimes even pull out the swords on his back and toss them as projectiles
- It is best to keep staying close to him at all times and keep landing hits. Keep to his back rather than his underbelly to avoid getting slammed on
- If he is out of range, switch to spells and ranged attacks
- Use the Fire Ward to mitigate any fire damage you receive.
