The Legacy of the Macaque is a Wandering Tales side quest in Where Winds Meet that sends you across the Hidden Mountain region to recover three relics linked to the Monkey King. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find every required item, unlock the Monkey King’s Chest, earn the No Monkey Business achievement, and claim all quest rewards.
Getting the Monkey King’s Mohist Canons
The Legacy of the Macaque is a side mission centered on exploration. Players are tasked with locating several required objects, which are necessary to gain access to the Monkey King’s Chest.
You can start by heading over to the marked location near Precipice Ridge. Once you’re there, search the area on the right side to find the Monkey King’s Mohist Canons near the large rock. It’s a book with thick monkey fur, so tattered it’s almost impossible to read.
Getting the Monkey King’s Square
After that, head over to the marked location, which is southeast of Millennium Crossing. Once there, you’ll find a Wayfarer (Shenze) from whom you can obtain the Monkey’s King Square using Celestial Seize.
Getting the Monkey King’s Mirror and Completing the Quest
Next, you’ll need to head over to the southwest of Precipice Ridge. Once you’re at the marked location which is near the waterfall, you’ll find a macaque lying on top of a rock in the middle of the water body. Go over to the macaque and you’ll find that the macaque is dead but interacting with him will give you the Monkey King’s Mirror.
The macaque also has the Monkey King Chest with him. The chest is carved with the three patterns: a book, a mirror, and a ruler. What you’ll need are the Monkey King’s Mohist Canons, Monkey’s King Square, and the Monkey King’s Mirror to open the chest.
Once you open the chest using these items, you’ll obtain the No Monkey Business achievement.
