Stealth attacks in Jagged Alliance 3 are hit or miss, as oftentimes you won’t get the kill. To start, choosing a member with high dexterity and agility will help. Mercs like the Mouse, Fox, or Shadow are more suited to sneak attacks and stealth. Also, perks like Ambusher, Assassination, Untraceable, and mercs having the Stealthy trait and Fleeting Shadow talents are needed. You can even camouflage your merc in certain armor, like camouflage armor. Once you have all this down, it is time to test your skills.
Melee weapons are most effective to attack up close and silently, so a high level combat knife will suffice. To sneak up and use a stealth attack, press H to hide your merc. Select your opponent. Hold B and left click to prepare a takedown. You will get a list of body part options, and here you can choose the neck. Now while crouching or prone, step up to the enemy and attack them. Enemies have a detection radius, but if you have the Untraceable Perk unlocked, you can stay undetected for a while. Night and fog weather effects can also diminish the view, making it easier to sneak.
Some enemies who are not prone to sneak attacks are Scouts, certain bosses, and armored enemies. You should plan your tactics accordingly if you wish to tackle them upfront.
