The only purpose of the mirror is to defeat shattered enemies. When you first get the mirror, you will also learn how to use them on shattered enemies. Using the mirror helps slow down time for them but not for you, so you can quickly jump in and land some hits to defeat them. To use the mirror, you first need to wait for it to glow completely red to symbolize that it is ready.
Next, focus the mirror on the enemies using the focus button to help slow down time. Once this effect is used up, you have to wait for it to recharge by paying attention to the red glow encircling it. If the mirror is completely red, then it is ready to use again.
