You can equip any item from your inventory by clicking on it and pressing the G button. But once you are done, you might need to put it away. To put away items from your inventory, press G, and for books and maps, you have to press the same button that you have used to equip them. For example, if you brought out your map by pressing M, then you need to press M again to put it away.
Pressing G puts away your items back in your inventory, but if you are looking to drop items, only certain items can be dropped. Logs and other larger items that cannot be stored in your backpack will be dropped by pressing G. You can also use storage units and racks to store items you don’t want to hold anymore.
