Plague Wood is one of those important resources you’ll start needing once you explore the swamp areas in Windrose. It’s found in the infected parts of the biome and plays an important role in unlocking better crafting options. While it’s not too hard to find, the area can be dangerous, so you’ll need to be prepared before heading in. Once you start collecting it, you’ll be able to craft useful materials that are important for late-game progress.

How to Get Plague Wood

The Plague Wood can be collected from the swamp biome, particularly within the infested zones. Once you reach this zone, move towards the infested trees to start harvesting the Plague Wood. For gathering Plague Wood, an Iron Axe is required. You can also get Plague Wood by killing infected crocodiles. As soon as you collect Plague Wood for the first time, it will unlock new crafting recipes.

The most common location to find crocodiles is within the shallow water and swamps throughout the entire Cursed Swamps biome. Crocodiles prefer to be near water sources, making these areas the best spots to hunt them. Besides being available in the Swamp biome, crocodiles can also be located in the Ancient Ruins biome, where they generally act as guards near the entrances. Besides this, another good place to find crocodiles is the banks of rivers and lakes.

How to Use Plague Wood

The most common use of Plague Wood is making Essence Arborum, which is one of the materials you will need as you advance into higher levels within the game. Essence Arborum is made from one piece of Plague Wood, and its crafting time is around 20 seconds.

Essence Arborum is a magic material and one of the rarest within the game. This material will be used mainly at the end of the game; it will be essential to you as you advance to higher levels within the game.
