The game does provide multiple storage options, and as you keep leveling up, you can unlock better storage. You can find these storage options under the Technology menu, and the first one you will unlock is the basic Chest. This unlocks at level 2, but only offers 10 storage spaces. Once you reach level 8, you can get the Wooden Tavern Cabinet. This offers an extra barrel for more storage space, making it 15 storage slots. At level 14 is the Antique Storage Cabinet, which offers 20 storage slots. And finally, at level 16, you can unlock the Metal Chest. This has 24 storage slots for maximum storage. There is also a refined Metal Chest at level 39, and will probably supply 5 additional storage slots.
The best thing about owning storage chests and barrels is that you can store your useful items inside and protect them. There is a security code that you can add to these storage containers so no one can come and steal your items. Like most crafting items, you need to scavenge for materials to craft these storage containers, which require a lot of resources to craft.
