The only way to get coconuts is by cutting down coconut trees and having a random chance of obtaining coconuts. You can spot coconut trees near the beach areas of the map. Early on in the game, there are a handful of coconut trees in Broken Delta. Just head over to the beachy shoreline or explore the grassy area near the sands to find coconut trees. While you can fell the trees using an advanced axe, you will be rewarded better and have a higher chance of getting coconuts if you use a higher tier axe like a chainsaw
To identify coconut trees, look up and see if you can spot the green fruit handing off the tall branches. Palm trees and coconut trees look alike, so if you don’t want to waste time cutting up the wrong tree, you need to check what fruits are growing on the tree before you start. So far, you cannot grow coconuts in your potting soil, since harvesting coconuts doesn’t usually give you seeds. You can instead check out the vending machine’s item exchange tab to see if anyone is selling coconut seeds, then purchase them to plant at your base.
