Acquiring a tank in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ is not as easy as one might think. Firstly, one has to gather some parts of the tank, access a bunker, repair it, and then start using it. This may take some time, but the result is definitely worth the effort because one will have a very strong vehicle. If you want to get your own drivable tank in MW4 DMZ, here’s everything you need to do.

How to Get a Tank in MW4 DMZ

Getting your own tank in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ takes some work, but it’s worth the effort. You need to collect four tank parts, get the Air Base Armoury Card, and make your way into the underground bunker at the Air Base. Once you’ve repaired the tank, you can drive it around the map and use it against enemies and other players.

How to Find All Four Tank Parts in MW4 DMZ

Before you can repair the tank, you need to find four parts scattered around the Air Base. These parts appear as loose loot, so you may need to search several shelves, boxes, and other spots to find them. You can also collect the parts across multiple matches, so you don’t have to find everything in one run.

Tank Plug Location

You can find the Tank Plug inside the industrial buildings around the central Air Base area. One possible location is on the shelves on the lower floor of a building filled with industrial equipment. There are plenty of enemies in this area, so clear them out before searching. The Tank Plug can appear in different spots, so check the nearby shelves and other loot locations if you don’t find it immediately.

Tank Battery Location

The Tank Battery is located inside the Air Base bunker, specifically in the hangar section where you can find several aircraft. Head into this part of the bunker and search around the aircraft, barrels, and boxes. One possible spawn is on a barrel near an aircraft. Since the battery appears as loose loot, its exact position may change between matches. Once you find it, put it in your Safe Box so you don’t lose it if you die.

Tank Water Pump Location

You can find the Tank Water Pump in the northern buildings of the Air Base, near the main entrance gate. Start by checking the boxes to the right of the main gate, as this is one of its possible spawn locations. If it’s not there, search the nearby buildings and other loose loot spots.

Tank Actuator Location

The Tank Actuator is found deep inside the Air Base bunker, in the same room where you’ll eventually repair the tank. To reach this area, you need to unlock the Armory Door. Once you’re inside, head toward the broken tank and look for the small raised compartment nearby. You can find the Tank Actuator there.

How to Get the Air Base Armory Card

To access the room containing the broken tank, you’ll need the orange Air Base Armoury Card. Start Operation Iron Citadel and head to the Air Base. Search the marked zones until the search meter fills up and reveals the location of the purple keycard. You can also find this card as loose loot around the area.

Once you have the purple keycard, head to the server room marked during the mission. Interact with the server to upgrade the card, then collect the orange Air Base Armoury Card. You can bring this upgraded card into a Free Roam match later, allowing you to access the Armoury without repeating the entire story mission.

How to Open the Air Base Armoury Door

After collecting the tank parts and the Armoury Card, enter a Free Roam match and head toward the Air Base bunker. Before going inside, consider picking up two or three Fuel Cans from gas stations. The tank uses a lot of fuel, so you’ll need them later.

Inside the bunker, you’ll need to find three notes containing different parts of the Armoury Door code. The first note is inside a control room near the server room. From the main bunker entrance, go left through the server room, turn left again, and then take a right through the wooden doorway. Search the tables to find the note containing the last two digits.

For the next note, head toward the yellow section from the Armoury Door. Go through the cafeteria and enter the meeting room with a large flag. Check the tables for another note. The final note is inside a small office in the green section of the bunker. From the Armoury Door, take the back-right passage and follow it until you reach the office. Search the table to find the remaining code.

Once you have all three notes, return to the Armoury Door and enter the numbers in the correct order. For example, one possible code is 162447, but the numbers can change between matches. After entering the code, use your orange Air Base Armoury Card to unlock the door.

How to Repair the Tank in MW4 DMZ

Once you’ve opened the Armory Door, you’ll have to deal with a Colossus boss guarding the area. One way to defeat it is to use the large control panel near the vault door as cover. Keep moving around the panel to avoid its attacks while shooting its head and shoulders. Continue until the Colossus goes down.

After defeating the boss, head toward the back-right side of the Armoury, past the black lockers. You’ll find another room containing the broken tank. Clear out the enemies inside and approach the tank. If you have all four parts, interact with the repair points to install them. Once every part is in place, the tank will be ready to use.

How to Get the Tank Out of the Air Base Bunker

Repairing the tank is only part of the process. You still need to open the bunker doors to drive it outside. First, get inside the tank and look for a red button near the small door at the front of the room. Press this button to open the passage leading into the main bunker tunnels.

Next, you or a teammate needs to return to the Air Base and reach the circular watchtower. You can use the elevator inside to get close to the top, but be prepared to fight several armoured enemies along the way. Once you reach the upper control room, find and press the button that opens the main underground bunker exit.

With the doors open, return to your tank and drive it out of the bunker. The tank is extremely powerful against regular AI enemies and can also take down other players with its cannon. However, it isn’t completely invincible. Colossus enemies and other heavy tanks can still destroy it, so avoid fighting them unnecessarily.

Also, keep a few Fuel Cans with you. The tank burns through fuel quickly, and you don’t want to run out while driving around the map in DMZ.
