Facing the Thunderjaw in Lego Horizon Adventures is no easy task. This massive machine combines brute strength with devastating attacks, making it one of the most challenging enemies you’ll encounter. Whether you’re battling it on your own or with your trusty companion, Varl, you’ll need to be quick on your feet and strategic in your approach. The fight is divided into several phases, each ramping up the difficulty as you go. From tight spaces to explosive projectiles and swarming enemies, this guide will walk you through the steps to take down the Thunderjaw and move forward in your quest.
How to Beat the Thunderjaw
- In the first phase, you’ll find yourself in a cramped area of the Cauldron with limited space to maneuver. The Thunderjaw isn’t your only problem – it’s constantly firing projectiles and using sweeping attacks to keep you on your toes. Every so often, it will roar, summoning a group of cultists to join the fight, which only makes things harder. With the odds stacked against you, it’s best to wrap up this phase quickly. Using either Aloy or Varl is the smartest approach here.
- To do this, look to the far left or right to spot electrified barrels on moving platforms. Wait for the right moment to grab one, jump back to the center, and aim the barrel at the nearby pillar’s electrical terminal. This will shock the Thunderjaw and take a chunk of its health. Keep repeating this while avoiding its attacks and the cultists, and you’ll soon move on to the next phase.
- Now you’ll be on the same platform as the Thunderjaw, which raises the stakes considerably. In addition to its powerful swipes, you’ll need to watch out for its rapid-fire projectiles and area-of-effect attacks. Stay on the move and focus on damaging one of its legs.
- After dealing enough damage, the Thunderjaw will fall, exposing two weak points on its head. Use your strongest weapons and gadgets to dish out as much damage as you can, but be ready to back off when it starts getting back up. Keep repeating this strategy, and eventually, you’ll bring the Thunderjaw down, allowing the team to collect another metal flower for their journey.
