After finishing the pre-requisite Secrets quest and making progress into Chapter 4, you can then begin the Escape Plan quest in Gothic 1 Remake. This guide will walk you through on how to complete all objectives for the quest, such as, speaking to all the people of the castle; finding Syra’s message; completing the quest after defeating the enemy inside the Old Camp.
How to Start the Secrets Quest

To get the Escape Plan quest you’ll need to first complete the Double Trouble quest. After completing Double Trouble, you’ll need to go to Syra to start the Secrets quest.
You will need to find two female NPCs that can be found inside the Old Camp castle. Use a Meatbug transformation scroll if you aren’t already a member of the Old Camp in order to safely enter. You may purchase these from the Swamp Camp’s scroll merchant or Cronos at the New Camp. If you have learned how to craft transformation scrolls, you’ll be able to craft it, as well.

Proceed into the area from the left side whilst in your transformed state, avoiding detection by the guards in the process. Locate Seraphia, and once you find her, initiate a conversation with her. During that conversation, choose to inform Seraphia of a possible opportunity to escape. Following that conversation, the quest will be updated.
Speak With the Second Woman

You need to go upstairs by Gomez’s room and wait for the second lady to leave from behind a crate. Talk to her to finish the required conversation for updating the Secrets quest.
Before continuing, make sure you’ve accepted the Special Pieces quest from Santino in the Old Mine. After turning in the deed to Santino later in the story, he rewards you with a key and reveals a secret route that leads directly into the castle cellar, making it much easier to reach Syra and continue her questline without going through the heavily guarded main entrance.
You can read our guide for further details: Special Pieces Quest Guide (What Does Santino Want?) – Gothic 1 Remake
Then leave the castle and go back to Syra to report that you spoke to both ladies. You can’t continue the quest until Chapter 4, so continue on your main story quests until after you visit Xardas, then return to Old Camp.
Read Syra’s Note

Upon arriving back at the Old Camp in Chapter 4, Fletcher will stop you at the entrance and request 100 Ore from you before allowing entrance. You may either pay the 100 Ore or defeat him and his two guards.

Go past Thorus’ warning and enter the inner ring of the camp. There, you’ll find Syra’s corpse. Looting Syra’s note inside the camp and reading the notes will start the Escape Plan quest.
Find Velaya and Seraphia

Approach the castle. There are several guards guarding it and they will attack you if you are seen; eliminate the enemies blocking your path before continuing into the castle. You’ll find Velaya on the second floor inside Gomez’s room and Seraphia can be found serving Gomez in the main chamber.
Once you arrive in Gomez’s room with both Velaya and Seraphia present, you’ll need to listen to their conversation. When given a dialogue option at the end of the conversation, select the top option.
Note: If you can’t find Velaya, check Gomez’s throne room, as she regularly moves in this location. If she still doesn’t appear, she’s likely bathing behind the screen in Gomez’s room.
Once the conversation has concluded, you will complete the Escape Plan quest. Both characters will betray you, causing guards to arrive. Defeat the guards to finish the encounter.
Can You Save Syra?
Yes, it is possible to save Syra, although the process is far from straightforward. The most consistently reported method is to eliminate every hostile member of Gomez’s faction after the sequence where the Mages die. Once you leave the castle with Milton, avoid teleporting to the Water Mages or progressing the main story. Instead, return to the Old Camp, kill every remaining hostile NPC, including those in the Fire Mage Monastery, then speak to Syra to complete the quest and keep all three women alive.
Remember: This method may not work in every playthrough due to different quest states or progression paths. While players have tested various quest orders and chapter timings, no other reliable method has been consistently confirmed, making this the best-known way to save Syra.
