If you talk to the Mechanic in Escape from Tarkov, you will need to complete a set of quests, called the Gunsmith quests, to get some special rewards. In the quests, you need to build a gun with the appropriate attachments to meet the requirements set by the Mechanic. In this guide, we will see how to complete the first three Gunsmith quests in Escape from Tarkov.
Escape from Tarkov – How to Complete the Gunsmith Quests (1 – 3)
Once you have reached level 2 and have a level one workbench, you can pick up the gunsmith quests from the mechanic. Here we will see how to complete the first three quests in Escape from Tarkov.

A few things you have to keep in mind before you start building the gun. You can get most of the materials from the flea market, or Raids, so if you don’t want to waste a lot of money, then you can head here to get the below attachments. You also need to make sure that the magazine is empty before you turn it in. Last, you have to reach 60 Durability. Repairing does not help, and if you find that you are short of the requirement, then you need to change the base gun but use the same attachments.
Gunsmith Quest 1 – MP-113
Requirements:
- 60 Durability
- 47 or more ergonomics
- 850 or less recoil
- 4 or less cells of space
- Extended magazine (6 or greater)
- Any tactical device
The MP 113 can be bought from the Mechanic or Jaeger. If you choose Jaeger, you have to give him 23k rubles to buy it once you reach Loyalty Level 2. You would be better off getting the base from the Mechanic, as it requires a barter at LL1. In exchange for 2 elite pliers and a screwdriver, you will get the MP 113. You can get these items in Scav town located in Woods, or at the Village by Shoreline.

Gunsmith Quest 2 – AKS-74U
Requirements
- 60 Durability
- 58 or more ergonomics
- 540 or less recoil
- 100 or more in sighting range
- Weight should be 3.5 kg or less
- 6 or fewer cells
- AKS-74U Zenit B-11 handguard
- AK-74 5.45×39 6L31 60-round magazine
Once you reach level 11, you can pick up this quest from the mechanic. Upon accepting it, you will receive the AKS 74U in the mail. You can either craft the magazine, get it at the flea market, or participate in raids. You can craft it if you have a level 2 Lavatory in the Hideout. If you are going to raid, then the Reserve will have what you need. You will need 6L23 magazines x4 and a Kek tape.

Gunsmith Quest 3 – MP5
Requirements
- 60 Durability
- 45 or more ergonomics
- Recoil should be 200 or less
- 200 or greater in sighting range
- Weight should be 4 kg or less
- Any tactical device
- HK MP5 9×19 X Products X-5 50-round drum magazine
- A Silencer
Right after completing the AKS-74U, you can get the third quest from the Mechanic at level 12. You can purchase the MP5SD from Peacekeeper at LL2. You have to make sure that you complete the quest Scrap Metal before you can buy it. You can also get it through barter with the Mechanic at LL2, or convert a MP5 purchased from Peacekeeper into the SD variant.
