To obtain Ensnaring Gaze, you need to defeat a Tenebrous Papilla that is level 30 or higher. The item will be dropped by the monster upon defeat. Ensnaring Gaze is used to level up Chasca.
How to Defeat Tenebrous Papilla in Genshin Impact
The Tenebrous Papilla boss is located in a cave to the east of the Flower Feather Clan’s settlement in Natlan. Enter the cave and head northwest from the Stadium of the Sacred Flame and unlock the teleport waypoint. Then, go west to find the Statue of the Seven and activate it and head north towards the river and you will find a large cave entrance. Inside the cave you will find the Tenebrous Papilla. Each time you battle the Tenebrous Papilla, it will be accompanied by three other World Bosses.
Depending on the type, the Tenebrous Papilla can transform into different powerful bosses to fight against you. Once you defeat it, the Tenebrous Papilla will respawn as a different type, each with its own set of possible transformations. Type I might transform into bosses like the Aeonblight Drake, Jadeplume Terrorshroom, or various Regisvines. Type II could turn into Maguu Kenki, Primo Geovishap, or any of the Hypostases, while Type III may become the Statue of Marble and Brass, Millennial Pearl Seahorse, or Kongamato.
The Tenebrous Papilla doesn’t have any specific weaknesses or strengths. Instead, it copies the attacks of other World Bosses so you can use any character you like to fight it. The boss has Void Wards that protect it, and you can break these wards with various Elemental Reactions, especially those associated with Nightsoul. After defeating the Tenebrous Papilla, it will respawn in about 3 minutes. To face it again, simply leave the area and wait. If it hasn’t appeared after 10 minutes, try logging out and back in, then return to the boss area. Once you defeat the Tenebrous Papilla, you’ll receive the Ensnaring Gaze as a reward.
