These medals can be found in secret areas on the map. After collecting a certain amount, you can turn them in to purchase rare items. There are a handful of mini medals you can find around the Circle of Temper area in Lower Echelon. Dragglenook

Once you reach the Circle of Temper, make your way to the entrance of Dragglenook. You can find this area on the west side of the map. Once you enter Dragglenook, you have to go up the ramp on the left side and go around. Follow the path and at the end of it you can break a vase to get the mini medal.

Lower Echelon (Fall)

Once the seasons have changed to Autumn, explore the central area of the Circle of Temper to find two stone plates on top of a pond. You will notice that the stone plates move up and down because of the gush of water underneath them. Hop on the stone plate and go up to the upper platform. Make your way to the stone bridge on the left side and go over it. Right in the middle of the bridge is a chest which contains the Mini Medal.

Lower Echelon (Spring)

On the east side of the map, you will now find gusts of wind similar to the gush of water during the Fall. You can ride the wind to reach higher up places. In one of the places, you will spot a treasure chest containing the mini medal.
