Currently, in the beta testing, you can only encounter Treasure Goblins in and around the dungeon areas. They are hard to come by in the overworld, but you can spot them near the entryway of dungeons or inside them. There are very rare instances when they spawn during a battle in the overworld, but even then they are hard to spot in the heat of the fight.

These beings are quite tricky to capture and defeat, as they will run around, evade you, and are quite quick and nimble. You can use any weapon you have at your disposal and give them a few hits. Eventually, they will start leaving a trail of gold coins for you to pick up, which makes it easier to spot them. Towards the end, the goblin will slow down when it is weakened, giving you enough time to put in some last punches and claim the loot.

For now, you can get one legendary loot, a bunch of rare gear or weapons, and some gold from defeating Treasure Goblins. The loot will vary on each goblin you defeat, but you are guaranteed at least one legendary weapon or gear and a handful of rare items, as well as some gold and some consumables.
